ANNOUNCEMENTS

Only days until Anime USA 2009!!! We are so incredibly excited; there will be more events than ever at the convention this year, from games to concerts to cafes to dances to your favorite new anime series, showing in 24-hour video rooms.

We regret to announce that Applegeeks and Johnny Wander will be unable to attend Anime USA 2009. We will miss them greatly, but hope to see them both back next year!

Also, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have lost much of our music library for the Karaoke event. If possible, we would greatly appreciate it if participants in the Open Mic and Karaoke Contest could provide their own music.

Guests

Check out our line-up of DJs for the late-night raves!

DJ Luminal - is a 15 year veteran of the electronic music scene, whose resumé includes credits as DJ, producer, remixer, sound engineer, and lighting designer for renowned electronic acts as diverse as Information Society, Lady Gaga, and Nachtmahr. His unique mix of high-energy dance music has consistently won over audiences at Anime raves for the past five years, and now Luminal is ready to bring the noise to AUSA! Wear comfortable shoes, pack extra glowsticks, and plenty of energy drinks, as his parties are notorious for lasting until sunrise!

Bill Shillito better known as DM Ashura, is an up and coming electronic musician. He is best known for his work in various music games, most notably Konami's Dance Dance Revolution and Beatmania IIDX series. Most recently, he was featured on the TechPara release "King of Techno", which is being played in clubs all across Japan. His music carries a high level of energy, combining driving, pulsing rhythms with melody and harmony you can lose yourself in. Be sure to come on Saturday night for not only a selection of his hits, but some fresh new material as well!

Events

Remember that we have a very special new aspect of the Masquerade this year. If you're competing, please be sure to re-read the rules, as there's been a small change to group entries.

By entering the AnimeUSA Masqurade, cosplayers can also enter a preliminary round for the Yume cosplay contest. Our judges will select 2 cosplayers to go on to the Yume Cosplay Masquerade in New York City.

To sign up, mark the appropriate box on the AnimeUSA Masqurade pre-registration form. It's just that easy!

The winners of the preliminary round will receive:

  1. Free accommodations for 2 at an official convention hotel in New York City.
  2. Free roundtrip transportation for 2 from Virginia to New York City.
  3. 2 free passes to the New York Anime Festival.
  4. A guaranteed place in the final competition, the Yume Cosplay Masquerade.

Preliminary Round Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Cosplayers must be available to attend Anime USA in 2009 and NYAF in 2010.
  2. Cosplayers must be at least 18 years of age.
  3. Cosplayers must be legal residents of the USA.
  4. Groups may compete. If a group wins, then the AnimeUSA judges will select 2 from the group to go on to the final round.
  5. The winning duo must be available to participate in AnimeUSA promotional activities.

As you can see, we're working to make Anime USA 2009 the best this convention has ever been!
