It's the most common mistake in the fitness game.
You see someone at the gym chugging a pre-workout that could kill a horse, sipping intra-workout BCAAs, and pounding a post-workout protein shake . . . but they haven't made any real progress in years.
Why? Because they're majoring in the minors.
They're looking for a chemical solution to a lifestyle problem.
Here's the hard truth we tell everyone: You don't need supplements to build a great body.
If you aren't sleeping enough, if you aren't training hard enough, and—most importantly—if you aren't controlling your calories and macros, no amount of pills or powders will save you.
The definition of supplement: The word supplement literally means "something that completes or enhances something else when added to it."
By definition, a supplement can't replace the work; it can only enhance it.
- Fat Burners: They can help you burn fat slightly faster, but they can't burn fat if you're eating more calories than you burn. In a calorie surplus, a fat burner is useless.
- Creatine: It's the most researched molecule in sports nutrition and great for building muscle, but it won't build an ounce of muscle if you aren't progressively overloading your muscles in the gym.
- Greens Powders: They can provide some micronutrients, but they don't replicate the fiber, volume, and satiating effects of eating real fruits and vegetables.
The Hierarchy of Results: Think of your fitness journey like building a house. Your calorie intake is the foundation. Your macronutrient balance (protein, carbs, fat) is the framing. Your training is the electricity and plumbing.
Supplements? They are the paint on the walls.
If the foundation is cracked and the roof is leaking, it doesn't matter how nice the paint looks.
Action Step: We pride ourselves on honesty. We won't let you buy something if it won't help you.
Reply to this email and tell us: What is one supplement you are taking (or thinking about taking) that you are confused about?
We'll let you know if it is worth your money or if you should focus that energy on your diet instead.
Build the foundation first, then optimize.
