Tremblant, Canada
Mont-Tremblant once again reminded racers why it remains one of the most iconic and feared venues in North America. Athletes chasing Sprint, Beast, Ultra, and Kids medals were greeted by steep climbs, technical terrain, and breathtaking mountain views around every turn. The legendary Beast and Ultra distances pushed endurance to the limit as racers battled through long hours on the course, while the surrounding village provided the perfect backdrop for a weekend built around challenge, community, and perseverance. For many, crossing the finish line at Tremblant represented far more than a medal — it marked the completion of one of Spartan’s most respected mountain tests.
Kulmbach, Germany
The historic Markt-Platz in downtown Kulmbach once again served as the gateway to one of Germany’s toughest Spartan weekends, sending more than 4,500 athletes into the rugged forests and steep climbs of the Oberfrankenwald. From Friday’s Kids Race and Hurricane Heat to a full Trifecta weekend, racers faced everything from demanding elevation gains to technical trail sections winding through local landmarks like the Wolfskehle, Tennach, and Rehberg. The Beast doubled as the second stop of the Germany-Austria National Series, where valuable championship points were on the line. Italy’s Matteo Pelizza claimed victory on his favourite course, while Sophia Grimm led an all-German women’s podium after an intense battle that came down to little more than a minute. Warm June weather, a lively city celebration, and a packed festival atmosphere made Kulmbach a standout stop on the European calendar.
Oxford, Michigan
Tough Mudder descended on Koenig Materials over the weekend, turning a perfectly good quarry into a pit of shoe-snatching mud. Thousands spent the weekend getting slapped by the Great Lakes wind, crawling face-first through Kiss of Mud, and learning that self-reliance is a total myth the second anyone hits a twelve-foot wall. Grip strength was abandoned on Funky Monkey, pride was deleted by the brand new Shocks on the Rocks (think ice and electricty), and everyone was left facing a small fortune in laundry detergent waiting back home... oh, and the iconic new medal.
Sainte-Croix, Switzerland
High in the Jura Mountains, Sainte-Croix delivered its biggest Spartan weekend yet, welcoming more than 5,500 participants for a record-breaking fifth edition. The stunning alpine setting provided the perfect backdrop for racers tackling Sprint, Super, Beast, and Kids events across challenging mountain terrain. Throughout the weekend, athletes were rewarded with sweeping views, technical trails, and the unique combination of Spartan grit and Swiss scenery that has made this race one of the most popular stops in the region. Off the course, a bustling festival village filled with spectators, exhibitors, and food trucks kept the energy high from the first start line to the final finisher.
Abu Dhabi, UAE
Abu Dhabi delivered one of the most unique Spartan experiences of the season as athletes tackled a course that blended both indoor and outdoor racing environments. Set within the world-class Etihad Arena, racers moved from the controlled conditions of the arena floor to the challenging outdoor sections, where soft sand and water added an entirely different test of endurance and power. The contrast between fast-paced indoor obstacles and the energy-sapping sand created a dynamic course that kept competitors adapting from start to finish. Combined with Kids races, family activities, and the iconic setting of Yas Island, the event showcased a distinctive style of Spartan racing that has Spartans coming back year after year.
Lisbon, Portugal
Portugal’s capital welcomed athletes for the second edition of DEKA Lisbon, held along the scenic Tagus River at Parque das Nações. While the venue offered incredible views and a vibrant atmosphere , soaring temperatures added an extra challenge as competitors moved through the DEKA Zones and running segments. Despite the heat, athletes delivered impressive performances across the board. Luxembourg’s Tania Thies dominated the Elite Women’s race by nearly 90 seconds, while Spain’s Emilio Martin controlled the men’s field to secure victory by almost two minutes. With strong competition and a stunning waterfront backdrop, Lisbon continued building momentum as a growing destination on the DEKA calendar.
